Accommodation

Where your child sleeps matters as much as where they study

All our courses include accommodation and a meal plan. Look below to understand our accommodation options, what is included, and how we make sure your child has the safest and best time.

Host family accommodation on a Roseworth International School course

On 16 courses

Host family

The most popular of the three, and the one the courses are built around. Students live with a local family, share meals with them, and practise their English over dinner and through the weekend rather than only in class. Rooms are shared by two to three students — usually two — and full board means breakfast, a packed lunch or meal voucher, and an evening meal every day. The school asks for four weeks before arrival to make the match, and the directors choose the families themselves.

  • Full board — breakfast, packed lunch and evening meal
  • Matched at least four weeks before arrival

Hotel

The city breaks and the courses abroad are hotel-based. Students share a room, and the board depends on the course — full board on the study holidays, breakfast only on the London trips, where the group eats out together. Staff stay in the same hotel and are contactable around the clock. Which hotel is named on each course’s own page.

  • Shared rooms, usually two students
  • Board varies by course — the course page says which

University residence

Some courses put students on a university campus, where the lessons are held in the same place they sleep. Rooms are single or twin, meals are taken with the group, and the campus is supervised around the clock. In Newcastle the Northumbria premium student residence is also offered as an alternative to a host family: single en-suite rooms in units of four, with a kitchenette and a living room, ten minutes’ walk from the school.

  • Lessons and accommodation on the same campus
  • Single or twin rooms
  • Meals taken with the group
  • 24-hour campus security and residential supervision
  • Access to the university’s own facilities

Safeguarding

How our host families are checked

  • Every adult in the household holds an enhanced DBS check, a UK government safeguarding requirement, renewed every 3 years. Not one check per address: one per adult living there.

  • Our accommodation officer visits the homes before they are used, and the directors choose the families themselves.

  • A private bedroom, clean, private, and inspected.

  • Meals are part of the placement, and dietary needs, pets and other children in the house are all part of the match process.

Host families are placed at least four weeks before arrival wherever possible, so there is time to tell you who your child will be staying with.
